51 SAIL programs will operate at 76 sites in 26 Alabama counties in 2026

Birmingham, Alabama — (June 1, 2026) SAIL (Summer Adventures in Learning) is a non-profit who partners with community-based organizations to conduct summer learning programs across Alabama. SAIL programs combine the fun of summer camp with rigorous academics (known as the SAIL model). The children grow in mind, body and spirit. This summer, 51 SAIL programs will operate at 76 sites in 26 counties.

SAIL was founded in 2012 with the vision of spreading the SAIL model across the state. SAIL programs are encouraged to develop their own curriculum. This flexibility allows each to design a community-centric program tailored to the interests and academic standing of their students. SAIL enables the programs to thrive by providing assessments, a common data framework for measuring outcomes, and a peer-learning network that strengthens programs over time.
